HCMC – Erex Corporation, a Japanese biomass electricity manufacturer, will develop a biomass-fired power plant in the northern Vietnamese province of Yen Bai, with funding estimated at US$120 million, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
The chairman of the province, Tran Huy Tuan, presented an investment certificate to Erex Corporation in Tokyo, Japan, on May 8.
Yen Bai 1 biomass power plant will cover around 10 hectares at the Bac Van Yen Industrial Cluster, Van Yen District.
Scheduled to commence power generation in early 2027, the plant will have a capacity of 50MW and utilize about 500,000 tons of assorted waste and by-products from wood as fuel a year.
