HCMC – Japan’s Mikazuki Group has inaugurated a Japanese-style pedestrian bridge in Danang City in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.
The 140-meter-long bridge, known as the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Bridge, crosses over Nguyen Tat Thanh Street in Lien Chieu District with a height of 13 meters. It provides both locals and tourists with a 665-square-meter path that leads directly and safely to the beach.
The bridge’s shape was inspired by Japan’s modern architectural style. The pathways leading up to the bridge, designed with the inspiration of the Japanese weaving art, demonstrates the close-knit ties between Vietnam and Japan.
There are both steel stairs and elevators in two observation decks of the bridge, which make it easier for people with disabilities to access the building.
Vietnam-Japan Friendship Bridge is expected to become a prominent attraction in the city’s northwest. The project’s investment totaled VND42 billion.
In Danang, Japan is now the city’s largest foreign investor with 228 projects worth over US$1 billion.
Japanese investments mainly focus on high-tech, processing and manufacturing industries, education, and real estate. The Da Nang Mikazuki Japanese Resorts and Spa project in Lien Chieu District, in particular, has a total investment of VND3,900 billion.
Odaka Yoshimune, chairman of Mikazuki Group, said the firm plans to make the city a favorable destination for domestic and international tourists.
