HCMC – A magnitude-3.4 earthquake struck Kon Plong District, Kon Tum Province last night, March 21, taking to 36 the total number of quakes hitting the Central Highlands province this month, according to the Institute of Geophysics.
The latest quake, with a focal depth of some 8.1 kilometers, rocked Kon Plong at 9:00 p.m but posed no risk of disaster. This is one of the largest quakes to hit the district this month.
The Center for Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning under the Institute of Geophysics is monitoring the quake.
All the quakes reported in the month to date are small or mild in scale. On March 8 and 13, the district experienced four to five quakes a day.
