HCMC – Le Quoc Phong, permanent deputy secretary of the HCMC Party Committee, has been picked as secretary of the Party Committee of Party organizations in HCMC for the 2025–2030 term, the Standing Board of the HCMC Party Committee announced today, October 22.
The appointment was announced at a ceremony chaired by HCMC Party Secretary Tran Luu Quang, according to the Government news website (baochinhphu.vn).
Duong Trong Hieu, permanent deputy head of the Organization Commission of the HCMC Party Committee, announced the decision of the Standing Board to assign Phong to the position.
Phong, born in 1978 in Hanoi City, holds a doctorate in biotechnology and an advanced degree in political theory. He is a member of the 13th Party Central Committee and a National Assembly deputy for the 14th and 15th tenures.
He previously served as secretary of the Dong Thap Province Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term and head of the province’s delegation to the 15th National Assembly. Phong began his career in youth organizations, holding senior roles in the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Vietnam Youth Federation.
At the same event, Pham Thanh Kien, permanent vice chairman of the HCMC People’s Council, was appointed head of the Organization Commission of the HCMC Party Committee.
Kien, born in 1971 in Ca Mau Province, holds a master’s degree in Party and State governance and bachelor’s degrees in administration, law, and political science. He used to serve as director of the HCMC Department of Industry and Trade and secretary of the District 3 Party Committee.
