Luu Binh Nhuong charged with abusing power for personal gain

HCMC – Luu Binh Nhuong, a former deputy of the National Assembly (NA), has been charged with abusing power and authority to influence others for personal gain.

The police in Thai Binh Province today, December 26, decided to supplement their charges and initiate criminal proceedings against Nhuong on the above charge.

Nhuong was accused of exploiting his position and authority to influence others to illegally gain hundreds of thousands of U.S. dollars when serving as NA deputy.

Nhuong was detained on the evening of November 14 on alleged charges of extortion.

The police are broadening an investigation of a case involving Pham Minh Cuong, 37, on alleged charges of extortion. Cuong and his accomplices had been accused of unlawfully assuming control over sand mines to extort money from several businesses.
