HCMC – Maersk, a global shipping company, has launched its weekly container shipping service from Incheon Port, South Korea to Cat Lai Port in HCMC, Vietnam, starting March 4, the Incheon Port Authority (IPA) said.
The newly inaugurated PH5 service aims to establish vital transportation links between Incheon Port in South Korea and key destinations including Xiamen and Hong Kong in China, Laem Chabang in Thailand, and Cat Lai in HCMC. This initiative is set to bolster connectivity and trade opportunities across the region.
To support this transportation route, Maersk Line has deployed five vessels with capacities ranging from 2,544 TEUs to 2,826 TEUs. The first vessel, Maersk Ningbo, has already commenced operations by loading cargo at the Hanjin Incheon container terminal.
An IPA representative noted that the introduction of the new service has expanded the number of port calls to Vietnam and Thailand from Incheon Port to 29. This development is expected to facilitate the expansion of export markets, particularly benefiting small and medium-sized enterprises.
