HCMC – The ICU Center for Covid patients in HCMC today, September 7, announced that it has discharged 18 severely-ill Covid patients who are old and have underlying medical problems.

To treat these patients successfully, the doctors had to combine various methods and take measures to improve their physical condition.

“The center has improved its ability to treat severely-ill Covid patients and provide them with intensive care. In the upcoming period, with the support of the Ministry of Health and HCMC, the center will admit and treat more Covid patients,” said Professor Dr. Pham Nhu Hien, director of the Hue Central Hospital, which manages the ICU Center.

Apart from these 18 patients, many other cases are likely to be discharged from the center or transferred to other facilities for lower-level treatment, after a while of being monitored and treated at the center, he added.

The center’s top goal is to treat these patients and save them from life-threatening conditions. Therefore, these positive developments have greatly encouraged the medical workers.

This ICU Center was put into operation on August 24. It has received mostly severely- and critically-ill Covid patients.

After two weeks of operations, the center admitted and treated over 350 severely-ill cases. Among them, more than 100 patients had to rely on ventilators, three others needed continuous dialysis and one required ECMO support.
