HCMC – The government of Hau Giang Province has approved food producer Masan Group’s proposal to build the Western Food Industrial Center No. 2 at the Song Hau Industrial Park in Hau Giang Province, according to a local official.

Dong Van Thanh, chairman of the provincial government, said the province had a meeting with Masan Group on December 1 to consider its proposal to implement the food factory project, reported Phap Luat newspaper.

Masan has developed two factories in this Mekong Delta province, the Masan brewery factory and the Western Food Industrial Center No.1, with a total investment of some VND2.7 trillion.

To meet the demand for further growth in the 2022-2026 period, the group suggested building the second food factory covering an area of at least 40 hectares and worth around VND3.5 trillion. The facility is expected to have an annual output of about 1,100 million packets of noodles and more than 250 million liters of soft drinks. Work on the project is set to begin in 2022.

At the meeting, the group proposed the provincial government add the project to the list of key projects.

Wrapping up the meeting, the Hau Giang chairman agreed with the proposal and tasked the competent agencies to join hands to create favorable conditions for the implementation of the project.

The project is expected to positively impact the province’s socioeconomic growth, increase industrial manufacturing and import-export values, and provide job opportunities for the local people.
