HCMC – Mexico has initiated an anti-dumping investigation into small welding wire imported from Vietnam, said the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The investigation follows requests made by two Mexican enterprises.

The products subject to Mexico’s investigation include alloy welding wire primarily composed of carbon, manganese, and silicon, with a thickness of 1.6 mm. These products are packed and have weights ranging from 0.5 to 400 kilograms.

Competent authorities will determine the average prices of the welding wires based on their actual prices in the Vietnamese market. Relevant parties have been requested to submit comments and provide all necessary information regarding the products under investigation to the authorities by November 21.

Manufacturers and exporters of these products are required to stay updated on the case’s developments and fully comply with the requirements of Mexican authorities. Businesses are also expected to collaborate with the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam during the investigation.

In a related development, in late September, Mexico’s Secretariat of Economy issued a preliminary conclusion on an anti-dumping investigation into cold roll steel imported from Vietnam, with a dumping margin ranging from 12.77% to 81.06%.
