HCMC – The chairman of Vietnam’s National Assembly, Vuong Dinh Hue, will visit Cuba, Argentina and Uruguay to enhance Vietnam’s relations with the three countries in Latin America.

His three-nation Latin America tour is scheduled from April 18 to 28, the National Assembly Office said in a statement issued today.

His official visit to Cuba will coincide with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Cuba-Vietnam Solidarity Committee, and the 50th anniversary of Cuban leader Fidel Castro’s visit to Vietnam in July 1973.

The special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba has always been strengthened. Due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, bilateral trade between the two countries in 2022 fell 30% year-on-year to nearly US$182 million. Vietnam’s investment in Cuba has reached US$28.4 million.

The visit to Argentina is also arranged on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which affirms Argentina as one of Vietnam’s top partners in Latin America.

Bilateral trade between the two countries has continuously increased, from US$316 million in 2017 to US$4.5 billion in 2022.

Regarding Uruguay, this is the first visit by a high-level Vietnamese delegation to this country, taking place on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
