Nearly 16,000 drink driving cases recorded in HCMC in February

HCMC – The traffic police in HCMC detected nearly 16,000 cases of drink driving in the second month of the year, making up 31.9% of the total traffic safety violations, local media reported.

The city recorded over 49,700 cases of traffic violations in February, and imposed fines of VND67.7 billion. Among those, 15,875 cases were related to drink driving, while 5,459 cases violated speed regulations.

During the Lunar New Year holiday, from February 11 to 20, the traffic police detected 10,339 cases of traffic violations, with fines amounting to VND8 billion. Of those, there were 4,620 drink driving cases.
