HCMC – The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho attracted nearly one million local and international visitors from April 28 to May 2.
On May 2, Nguyen Minh Tuan, director of the Can Tho Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that during the public holiday, the total number of visitors to events and festivals held by the city and its tourist sites reached 982,000, rising 139% over the same period of last year.
Of which, foreign guests staying in Can Tho City rose by 360% against the year-ago period at 1,800.
Domestic and international guests brought the city total revenue of VND523 billion.
The city organized many events for guests, such as a southern traditional cake festival, a folk song festival, a hot air balloon festival and a bike racing tournament. The opening of direct flights between Can Tho and Van Don, Quang Ninh Province at the end of April also helped boost the number of tourists to the city during the public holiday which started on April 29 and ends today.
