HCMC – The Ministry of Health this evening, April 22, announced 11,160 fresh Covid infections, dropping by 869 against yesterday.
Hanoi City still took the lead in terms of case count, at 980, followed by Phu Tho with 761. Bac Giang, Quang Ninh, Nghe An, Vinh Phuc and Yen Bai detected 452-539 cases each. The remainder were found in other 52 cities and provinces.
Vietnam has reported over 10.5 million Covid cases so far, with nearly 9.1 million of them having recovered.
The number of daily Covid deaths inched down by two against yesterday at seven.
In related news, the HCMC anti-Covid steering committee has issued a new set of criteria for safety evaluation in all fields, activities and business operations in the city, replacing the previous criteria.
Accordingly, residents must wear face masks in public places, while masking is not required for kindergarteners and those who are delivering an art performance, competing in sports or eating.
Workplaces must ensure good ventilation, the local media reported.
Lodging facilities must not exceed their capacity and must have a separate quarantine area for guests infected with Covid, while production facilities are required to have some employees trained for Covid prevention and control, and have seats at dining rooms designed to keep a safe distance between workers.
Business and production facilities meeting less than 70% of the criteria set must suspend operations.
In another development, the number of Covid cases placed at quarantine facilities in the city has plunged to one, while no cases are put under quarantine at the export processing and industrial zones, according to the latest report sent to the HCMC government and the Ministry of Health by the municipal Department of Health.
