HCMC – The Beltway No.2 section from the Nga Tu So interchange to the Vinh Tuy Bridge was officially opened to traffic today, January 11, after four years of construction, according to the local media.

As one of the key projects of the city in the 2016-2021 period, the elevated beltway runs through the four districts of Hai Ba Trung, Dong Da, Thanh Xuan and Hoang Mai in Hanoi and helps to ease traffic congestion in the city, especially in downtown areas.

The project consists of two main parts, the elevated Vinh Tuy-Nga Tu So section and the expansion of the Vinh Tuy-Nga Tu Vong section.

It requires an investment of nearly VND10 trillion under the build-transfer format.

The Vinh Tuy-Nga Tu So section spans over five kilometers long and 19 meters wide, with four traffic lanes for automobiles, allowing a maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour on the main lanes.

The Vinh Tuy-Nga Tu Vong section spans 3.1 kilometers in length and 53.5-63.5 meters in width, with 8-10 traffic lanes. This section has been open to traffic since November 2020.

Vingroup JSC is the main investor of the project, while the consortium of Trung Nam E&C and Trung Chinh Trading and Construction Co, Ltd was in charge of the project construction.

The whole Beltway No.2 in Hanoi has a length of over 43 kilometers and a width of 50-72.5 meters, running on the route of Vinh Tuy – Minh Khai – Nga Tu Vong – Nga Tu So – Lang – Cau Giay – Vo Chi Cong – Truong Sa – Nguyen Van Linh – Vinh Tuy.

Currently, work on the 32-kilometer section has been completed, including the main bridges of Nhat Tan, Vinh Tuy, and Dong Tru.
