HCMC – Nguyen Hue Flower Street in HCMC will be transformed for the Lunar New Year 2025 with 109,000 flower baskets and approximately 90 snake-shaped sculptures, all crafted with a focus on environmental sustainability.
The theme of this year’s display, which is Non sông gấm hoa, vui xuân thái hòa (“A Prosperous Nation, Joyous Springtime”), honors Vietnam’s historic journey, celebrating its unity, independence, and commitment to sustainable development over the last 50 years.
The street will be divided into three segments, including Unity, Transformation, and Development, each representing key moments in the nation’s history.
This year’s celebration is especially significant, coinciding with major national milestones including the 95th anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the 50th anniversary of the country’s reunification.
During a press conference on January 7, Truong Duc Hung, general director of Saigontourist Group, emphasized that the design of Nguyen Hue Flower Street would highlight the significant events of the year, with a central focus on the decoration at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh. The entrance will feature the “Unity Dance,” embodying the spirit of national progress and unity as Vietnam enters a new era.
A key attraction will be the feature of two large sculptures, Kim Ty (male snake) and Ngan Ty (female snake), displayed at the entrance of the street. Crafted with 70% eco-friendly materials, the sculptures measure a combined 67 meters in length and will be intertwined in a pose. The figures will have over 5,000 reflective mica scales, and their eyes, made from 10 cm-diameter reflective materials, will enhance their appearance.
Other eco-friendly features will also include bamboo structures and the innovative installation of Spring Drops from the Earth installation, which will resemble a beehive and a cave. Thousands of bamboo tiles will be arranged to form a cave-like structure, adding a unique visual element to the display.
Nguyen Hue Flower Street will be fully decorated and open to the public on January 27, with festivities continuing until February 2.
