HCMC – The construction of the Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe wastewater treatment facility in HCMC is being expedited to ensure its completion by mid-2025.

The facility, which boasts a design capacity of 480,000 cubic meters, is currently 41% complete. Once completed, it will increase the city’s wastewater treatment capacity to 1.1 million cubic meters per day.

According to the HCMC Urban Infrastructure Construction Investment Projects Management Unit, the Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe factory will be one of the largest wastewater treatment facilities in Southeast Asia.

The project is part of package XL-02, a component of the larger environmental rehabilitation project in phase 2. Equipped with advanced technology, the facility will meet environmental standards for wastewater treatment.

The investor and contractor are trying to complete construction work by June 30, 2025. The HCMC Environmental Sanitation Project-Phase 2, which began in 2015, has a total cost of around VND 11,133 billion (equivalent to US$524 million). The project aims to complete the wastewater collection and treatment system for the entire Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe area and former District 2.
