NT2 expects profit in Q2

HCMC – PetroVietnam Power Nhon Trach 2 JSC, whose NT2 shares are traded on the Hochiminh Stock Exchange, anticipates a positive business performance in the second quarter of 2024, with its pre-tax profit estimated at VND159 billion.

This projected profit represents a slight uptick from the same period last year and indicated a notable improvement from the first quarter of 2024, during which NT2 racked up a loss of VND158.2 billion.

At the annual general meeting on May 29, the firm set a target of producing 3.2 billion kWh of electricity this year, an 11% rise against 2023.

It aimed to generate around VND6.3 trillion in revenue and VND68 billion in after-tax profit this year, representing only one-seventh of the 2023 performance.

Regarding the profit distribution plan for 2023, NT2 planned to pay a 15% cash dividend for 2023 and there is no dividend payment plan for 2024.

On the southern market, NT2 closed the trading session today, June 3, with a rise of 2.3% against last week’s close, reaching VND23,600.

The VN-Index of the Hochiminh Stock Exchange skyrocketed by 18.28 points, or 1.45%, compared to the previous session, to 1,280 points, with 367 winners and 96 losers.

Nearly 1.05 billion shares worth VND26.1 trillion were traded on the southern exchange, up by 36.2% in volume and 39.26% in value. Block deal transactions contributed over 115.9 million shares, valued at VND2.88 trillion.

The VN30 basket ended the session today with a rise of nearly 22 points. Among 30 stocks, only GVR inched down by 0.4%.

POW stole the limelight as it surged by 6.7% to its daily ceiling price of VND13,450 per share, its highest since August 2023. Concurrently, it was the most actively traded stock on the market, with 42.92 million shares changing hands.

Lender STB came second with 28.58 million shares traded today. Closing the trading session, it rose by 6.8% to VND29,750 per share.

On the northern exchange, the HNX-Index added 1.63 points, or 0.67%, day-on-day, at 244.72 points, with 126 advancers and 65 decliners. There were more than 99.12 million shares changing hands, with a total value of over VND1.75 trillion.
