HCMC – HCMC will organize a military parade on April 30, with over 13,000 people from various sectors attending to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of south Vietnam and the reunification of the nation (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2023).

According to Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, vice chairwoman of the HCMC People’s Committee, preparations for the parade and celebration activities are well underway, closely following directives from the central Government, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

The city will oversee eight key events, including a tribute ceremony at the HCMC Martyrs Cemetery scheduled for 8 a.m. on April 29. This follows a similar ceremony in Hanoi, where national leaders will offer incense in remembrance.

The Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security are coordinating efforts with HCMC to organize the parade. The military parade will feature 35 units representing the armed forces and police, while the city will lead a civilian procession with 11 participating groups. Additionally, HCMC has proposed including a contingent of overseas Vietnamese in the event.

The parade will begin on Le Duan Boulevard in District 1, commencing with a 21-gun salute accompanied by the national anthem and an aerial flyover by the Vietnam People’s Air Force. The procession will include symbolic floats, a model of the national emblem, banners of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese flag, a portrait of President Ho Chi Minh, and a display commemorating 50 years of national reunification.

Beyond the parade, the commemoration will feature a scientific conference, themed exhibitions in Hanoi and HCMC, a live television broadcast, and a variety of cultural, artistic, and sports events.
