HCMC – More than 500 kilometers of the North-South Expressway were opened to traffic in the first nine months of 2023, said Uong Viet Dung, chief of the Office of the Ministry of Transport, at a conference on October 11.
The sections of the North-South Expressway project in the first phase (2010-2020) that have been put into operation include Mai Son-National Highway 45, Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet, Phan Thiet-Dau Giay, National Highway 45-Nghi Son, Nghi Son-Dien Chau, and Nha Trang-Cam Lam.
Several other important infrastructure projects have also been completed, including the National Highway 32C section through Viet Tri City in Phu Tho Province, the renovation and upgrade of National Highway 3B section from Xuat Hoa to Po Ma border gate in phase two, the expansion of several bridges on National Highway 1A in Tien Giang Province, and the Day-Ninh Co canal connection project.
By the end of 2023, the My Thuan 2 Bridge and the My Thuan-Can Tho Expressway will be completed, Dung said.
During the first nine months of this year, the Ministry of Transport also commenced work on 13 major road projects, including Bien Hoa-Vung Tau, Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot, and Hoa Lien-Tuy Loan expressways.
Work on three other projects in the railway sector has also started this year, comprising the renovation of the two parts of the Hanoi-HCMC railway (Hanoi-Vinh and Vinh-Nha Trang sections), and the renovation of railway stations in the northern railway line.
