HCMC – The total value of insurance claims for human and property damages in the Halong Bay tour boat accident is about VND14.27 billion, according to data from insurers.
The estimated payout for non-life insurance is VND4.2 billion.
This includes VND1.2 billion from Bao Long for civil liability insurance covering passengers and crew accident insurance; VND2 billion from a consortium of Bao Viet, PTI, MIC, and BSH for passenger accident insurance; and VND1 billion from AAA for credit insurance.
For life insurance, the total estimated payout is VND10.07 billion. Of this, Bao Viet is expected to pay VND2 billion, Generali VND4.2 billion, Manulife VND3.02 billion, Dai-ichi VND700 million, Prudential VND100 million, and AIA VND50 million.
According to the Ministry of Finance, insurance companies have proactively contacted the families of the victims to arrange compensation and insurance payouts.
The Vinh Xanh 58 tourist boat, with registration number QN-7105, departed from Halong International Cruise Port with 49 people aboard. The vessel capsized between Ga Choi and Co Don islets while returning to port during a sudden squall.
As of July 22, ten individuals – including passengers and crew – had been rescued, 37 bodies had been recovered, and two people remained missing.
