HCMC – The Party Central Committee has voted on the introduction of candidates for the posts of State President, Prime Minister and National Assembly Chairperson with a high consensus, said Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong.
At a ceremony to wrap up the second plenum of the Party Central Committee on March 9, Trong said that the committee had discussed democratically, considered thoroughly and selected the most suitable solutions for the introduction of candidates, the local media reported.
The committee also agreed that the officials for the leading positions would be elected at the 11th sitting of the 14th National Assembly, which was planned to open on March 24.
Trong said the Politburo had earlier consulted with the Party Central Committee over candidates for the country’s top posts before introducing them to the National Assembly for consideration and election in line with the law.
Regarding the working agenda of the 13th Party Central Committee, Trong said the committee had basically agreed with the draft working agenda.
The working agenda should strictly follow the resolution and documents adopted at the 13th National Party Congress, with a focus placed on the leadership to carry out six key tasks: enhancing the building of the Party; fighting against corruption and wastefulness; innovating the growth model; restructuring the economy; improving the growth quality, labor productivity and competitiveness; and actively and proactively integrating into the international market.
After the plenum, the Politburo will build a plan to conduct these tasks and assign individuals and organizations to prepare specific action plans.
