HCMC – The ongoing national holiday has seen a big decline in passenger traffic at Vietnam’s two largest airports, Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat, compared to previous years.

On April 28, the second day of the five-day holiday marking Reunification Day (April 30) and International Labor Day (May 1), the number of passengers departing from and arriving at these two airports dropped by 10,000 to 13,000 from the previous day.

Collectively, Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat handled over 186,000 passengers on Sunday, down by 23,000 passengers against Saturday.

Statistics from Noi Bai show a decrease of 10,000 passengers in domestic air travel on Sunday compared to the previous day, while international passenger numbers remained high.

Yesterday, Noi Bai saw more than 84,000 passengers, including 49,000 domestic and 35,000 international passengers. Domestic passenger numbers at the airport are expected to slightly decline over the next two days until the end of the holiday period.

On Sunday, Tan Son Nhat handled 658 flights, accommodating a total of 102,401 passengers, which were 13,000 lower than on April 27.
