As Vietnam’s leading payment intermediary, Payoo not only promotes electronic payments and a modern, convenient lifestyle for its citizens but also focuses on fostering a connection between business activity and social responsibility. Over its 15 years of operation, Payoo has partnered with various organizations to create impactful programs that support disadvantaged groups in society, including underprivileged women, breast cancer patients, and impoverished children in remote areas.

In recent years, Payoo has strengthened its collaborations with partners to implement large-scale social welfare programs, aiming to make a profound impact on the community.

Two years of social welfare programs for women’s health

“Every woman deserves a radiant life, to be loved, and to live in peace and happiness…”

This heartfelt message has been championed by Payoo and its partners NAPAS and Mastercard for two consecutive years through social welfare programs for women, timed with Vietnam Women’s Day on October 20, so the number 2010 is chosen. By designing initiatives focused on improving women’s health, Payoo demonstrates its corporate social responsibility with a “2-in-1” goal: promoting modern payment methods, in line with the Government’s push for cashless transactions, while raising awareness about disease prevention through free cancer screenings.

The 2024 “Tap to Share, Give Hope” program is supporting 2,010 disadvantaged women in HCMC and Hanoi with free screenings for breast, thyroid, cervical, and ovarian cancers. Financial aid will also be provided for advanced screenings for women in high-risk groups. Early detection is critical, with timely treatment increasing the cure rate to 90%, offering hope and security to families affected by cancer.

To bring this program to life, Payoo has partnered with the Red Cross chapters in HCMC and Hanoi, along with local hospitals, to select beneficiaries, raise awareness, and organize the initiative.

Community involvement is encouraged through two main activities: sharing personalized e-cards via the website https://chamsechia.payoo.vn, with each share resulting in a VND20,100 contribution to the cancer screening fund. The cards, shared on social media with the hashtag #chamsechia, enable users to express love and support for the women in their lives. This simple yet powerful act has garnered strong backing from university student clubs, volunteer organizations, and Gen Z platforms.

Additionally, when customers pay with NAPAS or Mastercard contactless cards at Payoo’s partner stores, VND2,010 is donated to the cancer screening project.

In 2023, Payoo, NAPAS, and Mastercard launched the “Tap to Pay, Send a Thousand Loves” campaign, which featured flower displays and the sale of flower and food bundles to raise funds for breast cancer patients. All proceeds went to the Vietnam Breast Cancer Network, which provided cancer survivors with wigs to help boost their confidence and strength during recovery.

These initiatives position Payoo as a bridge between banks, card organizations, retailers, and customers, raising awareness for disadvantaged women and helping vulnerable groups access regular healthcare, improve their well-being, and elevate their quality of life.

Charity initiatives: “Payooers Spread Love”

This year Payoo has launched the long-term charity initiative “Payooers Spread Love” to raise funds for the underprivileged. The project began with the “A Healthy Step, Accumulating Love” run, where each step taken by participants contributed VND1,000 towards the fund. Over 400 employees from two offices enthusiastically participated in the virtual race via the VietRace365 platform. The money raised was donated to the Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation to help vulnerable children access better education and living conditions.

As typhoon Yagi severely struck large numbers of people, Payoo and the “Payooers Spread Love” project responded by supporting affected communities through the Hanoi Red Cross and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in HCMC.

The project also plans to launch the “Together to School” program, providing 100 gift sets to students in remote areas where school facilities remain underdeveloped.

Payoo has long understood that education is the key to a better future for younger generations. For several years, Payoo has partnered with the charity club “Warm Hearts” to donate computers to the libraries and computer rooms of schools in Phu Yen and Binh Dinh provinces.

These schools serve nearly 90% ethnic minority students, and with inadequate infrastructure and a severe shortage of computers, students face significant challenges in accessing IT education. The donated computers have transformed these IT rooms, improving the quality of education and enabling students to access critical information for their development. Through these efforts, Payoo is helping bridge the digital divide between rural and urban students, ensuring no one is left behind in the race for access to future opportunities.

Ngo Trung Linh, CEO of VietUnion, the company behind Payoo, said: “At Payoo, we believe that a business’s success must be intertwined with the overall progress of society. Therefore, beyond developing products and services that enhance convenience for the community, we are committed to supporting underprivileged groups. As a platform serving diverse payment needs, it is especially meaningful for us to act as a bridge, enabling our customers to share both material and emotional support with those in need, amplifying the power of compassion.”

By fostering strong connections between business goals and social causes, Payoo continues to play a pivotal role in uplifting the community and promoting a brighter, more equitable future for all.
