HCMC – The export of phones and phone parts during the first half of this year totaled US$21.5 billion, the highest among 22 product groups whose export revenue exceeded US$1 billion each, according to data from the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Electronics, computers and accessories came second, with outbound sales of US$19.3 billion. Textiles and garments was the third largest export earner, reaching US$12.8 billion, followed by machinery, equipment and tools, with export sales hitting US$10.3 billion.
The country also exported footwear products worth US$8.1 billion and wood and wooden items worth US$5 billion in the first half of the year.
Vehicles and vehicle parts and wood-timber products also joined the billion-dollar export club, registering export sales of US$3.8 billion and US$3.6 billion, respectively.
Metal and metal products, non-wooden furniture, cameras and components, electric wires and cables and toys and sports equipment also registered exports worth billions of dollars.
Overall, the export sales of 22 product groups in the billion-dollar club accounted for over 86% of the country’s total exports in the first six months.
