HCMC – Pilgrims are coming to Ba Den Mountain in Tay Ninh Province in droves to seek blessings during the Lunar New Year holiday, or Tet.
Known for the ancient temples called Ba, which are over 300 years old, the mountain has long been a popular destination for spiritual tourism, especially during the Lunar New Year season.
To reach Ba Den Mountain peak, travelers can take a cable car ride or walk on a snaking path to the Ba temple area.
This year’s Spring Festival offers pilgrims and tourists the opportunity to pay homage to the 36-meter-high statue of Maitreya Buddha, assembled from 6,688 pieces of natural sandstone.
At Sun World Ba Den Mountain, visitors can enjoy year-round blooms of flowers and wander through gardens full of varying colors, providing an ideal setting for photography.
The festival’s opening ceremony, themed “Tay Ninh’s Essence 2024,” takes place tonight, February 13, at the square opposite the cable car station within the Sun World Ba Den Mountain tourist area. The festivities will continue until March 9.
During the 10-day Lunar New Year period in 2023, Tay Ninh attracted over one million visitors who used the cable car service to move up to Ba Den Mountain, showcasing the enduring appeal of the site.
