PM leaves Hanoi for three-nation Middle East tour

HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his spouse, and a high-level Vietnamese delegation left Hanoi this morning, October 27, for a MIddle East tour that will take in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

The visits, scheduled to conclude on November 1, are at the invitations of UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jasim Al-Thani, and Crown Prince and Prime Minister of of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman.

This marks the first official visits by a Vietnamese PM to the UAE and Qatar in 15 years, the inaugural visit to Saudi Arabia since Hanoi and Riyadh established diplomatic relations in 1999.

PM Chinh will attend the 8th Future Investment Initiative (FII) in Saudi Arabia as chief guest.

The UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar are considered important, long-term, and comprehensive Middle East partners for Vietnam, according to the Vietnam News Agency. These countries share a mutual interest in strengthening ties with Vietnam.

The visits aim to revitalize traditional areas of cooperation, forge new partnerships in emerging sectors, and cultivate strong political trust between Vietnam and these Middle East nations.
