HCMC – A South Korean expert who was residing in HCMC has tested positive for Covid-19 after leaving the city for Japan on October 25, forcing at least 19 people who were in close contact with the expert to remain under quarantine.

On being notified of the case from the HCMC Center for Disease Prevention and Control, the District 2 Medical Center had taken six people who came into close contact with the expert to a quarantine facility.

They comprise colleagues, an interpreter and acquaintances of the South Korean citizen, said a representative of the medical center today, October 27, reported VnExpress news site.

Besides this, the medical center also asked three other people living in the district’s Thao Dien Ward that interacted with the above six to self-quarantine at home. With contact tracing efforts, local authorities and health care workers discovered four other people who were involved with the foreigner and ordered them to remain in home quarantine.

Related to this expert, the District 6 Medical Center also quarantined 10 other people, with one of them being sent to a quarantine center and the rest opting for home quarantine.

The city has not reported any new community-transmitted case for three months. To date, it has confirmed 82 coronavirus infections, with 78 having fully recovered.
