Must read

Located among lush green hills, Sam Tang Lake offers a tranquil retreat from the bustling city life, perfect for those seeking a peaceful retreat.

Sam Tang Lake, also known as Xam Tang Lake, is a natural freshwater lake situated in Thanh Son Village (formerly Noong Luong Village) in Mai Chau District, Hoa Binh Province. Positioned over 1,280 meters above sea level, the lake covers approximately 2.7 hectares.

Recently, Sam Tang Lake has drawn attention for its unspoiled natural beauty. It remains calm and clear throughout the year, mirroring the surrounding verdant mountains and forests. According to the Hoa Binh Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion Center, the lake is a crucial water source for daily use and irrigation over 400 hectares of agricultural land in the region.

The lake’s environment, featuring flat green grassy areas and proximity to Bo Buoi Village with its expansive plateau and open spaces, makes it an idyllic spot for leisurely trips with friends and family. Additionally, the area is surrounded by extensive cave systems, appealing to nature lovers and adventurers.

Visitors are recommended to explore Sam Tang Lake during the summer to enjoy cooler temperatures and escape the city’s heat. The best time for a visit is in the afternoon when the sunlight softens, allowing for stunning views of the sunset. While photography, picnics, and camping are popular activities here, swimming is discouraged due to the lake’s depth.

While there is no entry fee to Sam Tang Lake, the tourism infrastructure remains underdeveloped, with few attractions and limited accommodation options. This minimal development ensures that visitors can fully immerse themselves in nature and experience true rejuvenation amid the lush greenery.
