HCMC – Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV) has begun work on a rooftop solar power project at its factory in Bac Ninh’s Yen Phong Industrial Park, aiming to generate 2.59 million kWh of clean electricity per year.

The project, implemented by SEV in partnership with CME Solar Investment, will have an initial capacity of 2.38 MWp. It is projected to reduce carbon emissions by around 2,460 tons annually.

In addition to its role as an investor, CME Solar is also responsible for the entire process—from engineering design and legal procedures to construction, commissioning, and operation—ensuring compliance with SEV’s quality and safety standards.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, SEV General Director Kim Iee Soo emphasized that the project is not only economically significant but also reflects Samsung’s strong commitment to environmental and social responsibility in Vietnam.

He described the project as an important step in Samsung’s sustainable development strategy, contributing to greenhouse gas reduction and building a greener future for the next generation.

The SEV factory in Bac Ninh, which began operations in 2008, is Samsung’s first mobile phone manufacturing facility in Vietnam. The new rooftop solar project is expected to mark the start of a broader “greening” initiative across Samsung’s factories nationwide.
