Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi has been listed among the “100 Most Incredible Hotels in the World” by Fodor’s, becoming the only Vietnamese property to receive the distinction in the travel publisher’s 2026 “Fodor’s Finest Hotels” awards.
The 124-year-old hotel was one of 15 properties in Asia selected for the annual list, which Fodor’s describes as one of its most competitive accolades. Editors highlighted the Metropole’s 358 rooms, divided between the recently renovated Heritage Wing — known for its blend of French colonial architecture and Vietnamese details — and the neoclassical-style Opera Wing with its bold black, white and red palette.
Fodor’s also cited the hotel’s dining offerings, including the Michelin-selected French restaurant Le Beaulieu and the refined Vietnamese venue Spice Garden. According to the publisher, its team of experts reviewed a global pool of more than 765,000 hotels and resorts before finalizing its 2026 recommendations.
The recognition adds to a series of honors for the property. In October, the Metropole earned a Michelin Key in Vietnam’s inaugural Michelin Guide. It was also named one of the “Best Business Hotels in Asia-Pacific” by Business Traveller and included in Robb Report Hong Kong’s “Best of the Best” 2026 list.
