Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi has launched a new exhibition celebrating film icon Charlie Chaplin, who famously honeymooned at the hotel in 1936 with his wife, actress Paulette Goddard.

Titled “Charlie Chaplin: Echoes of a Legend,” the showcase features rare memorabilia from the private collection of Australian collector Paddy Macdonald. The month-long exhibition, which opened June 24 and runs through July 22, includes vintage film posters, century-old sheet music, and a 1925 edition of Time magazine—the first to feature an actor on its cover.

Items on display were sourced from nearly 50 countries, including the U.S., France, Ireland, Cuba and Australia, offering a global perspective on Chaplin’s life and legacy.

The exhibition is displayed in the hotel’s Heritage Wing and Opera Wing lobbies.

The Metropole, a 124-year-old hotel in Hanoi’s French Quarter, has long celebrated its historic ties to Chaplin. One of its premier suites in the newly renovated Heritage Wing is named after the actor. The Charlie Chaplin Suite features natural wood flooring, hand-tufted carpets, bespoke furnishings, and a balcony overlooking Con Coc Park.
