HCMC – The European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham Vietnam) will hold its flagship Green Economy Forum and Exhibition (GEFE) from October 21 to 23 in HCMC, focusing on best practices in green transition and sustainable solutions for Vietnam.
The event, themed “Building Green Futures,” will underscore the urgent need for climate action, especially given the increasing impact of extreme weather conditions in Vietnam.
GEFE 2024 aims to foster dialogue among government officials, businesses, and international organizations to address these challenges, said Bruno Jaspaert, chairman of EuroCham, at a press conference in Hanoi today. Jaspaert recently succeeded Dominik Meichle as chairman of the chamber. Meichle had held the position since March of this year.
Vu Ba Phu, director general of the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) under the Ministry of Trade and Industry, emphasized the importance of GEFE 2024 in strengthening Vietnam-EU cooperation on sustainable development. He said the event would facilitate knowledge sharing, investment promotion, and technology transfer.
Key objectives of GEFE include showcasing innovative green technologies and solutions and supporting Vietnam in achieving its commitments made at the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, or COP26.
GEFE 2024 will feature over 200 business stands and 13 country pavilions. The forum will feature conferences and workshops with 150 speakers discussing a wide range of sustainability topics, from technology to policy.
