HCMC – Due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (Taitra) held a virtual conference on September 17 to allow the Taiwanese healthcare sector to introduce the latest technologies to Vietnamese customers.
Participants of the event had a chance to access medical knowledge shared by Taiwanese experts, with three main topics—modern medical services in Taiwan, new bio technologies in medical treatment and advanced aesthetic methods— being presented.
Walter Yeh, president and CEO of Taitra, said that Vietnam and Taiwan have strong bilateral ties, especially in the healthcare sector. Two-way trade between Vietnam and Taiwan totaled US$16 billion in 2019, up 10.9% year-on-year, making Vietnam the seventh largest trade partner of Taiwan.
Taiwan and Vietnam have established cooperation in terms of healthcare, such as training healthcare workers, disease prevention and control. The online event would promote cooperation and exchange activities between the two sides in the fields of pharmaceuticals and digital healthcare.
Moreover, the event would enable Taiwan and Vietnam to discuss expertise and experience in the fight against Covid-19, he added.
According to Nguyen Anh Dung, president of Vietnam’s Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei, the Taiwanese health sector boasts of strong growth in terms of treatment, medicine production and medical equipment. The territory has also coordinated with Viet Duc and Bach Mai hospitals, which are major medical facilities in Vietnam.
Experts at the event exchanged opinions and expertise, especially with regard to the Covid-19 vaccine and accelerating mutual cooperation and benefits to people, Dung said.
