Traffic accident in Cambodia kills 6 Vietnamese

HCMC – A serious traffic accident in Cambodia’s Siem Reap Province on November 5 claimed the lives of at least six Vietnamese people and injured five others, according to the Consulate General of Vietnam in Cambodia’s Battambang.

The Vietnamese media cited Cambodian news agency Fresh News as saying that the accident, which occurred in Chikreng District, some 60 kilometers from the center of Siem Riep, left seven people dead, including six Vietnamese people and a Cambodian driver.

After being notified of the accident, the competent agencies in Cambodia rushed to the scene of the accident to rush the injured victims to the hospital.

The Consulate General of Vietnam in Battambang has contacted the local authorities to identify the victims and proposed that the injured be given good treatment.

The consulate has also dispatched officials to the scene of the accident and to take citizen protection measures.

On November 6, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs contacted the Embassy of Cambodia in Vietnam, proposing that Cambodia support the Vietnamese victims.

The ministry also directed the Vietnamese competent agencies in Cambodia to keep a close eye on the case, quickly determine information about the victims and announce the names of their families and localities.
