HCMC – The Ministry of Transport today, December 30, announced that it would advance 70 infrastructure projects in 2025, including 19 new starts and the completion of 51 existing ones.
The announcement came at a conference reviewing the ministry’s 2024 performance and outlining its 2025 priorities.
The ministry will expedite other components of the North-South Expressway project to achieve the national goal of 3,000 kilometers of expressways by year-end.
Key projects, including the HCMC-Trung Luong-My Thuan Expressway expansion and new expressways like Cho Moi-Bac Kan and My An-Cao Lanh phase 1, will see faster preparatory work.
Detailed planning for the Hanoi-Dong Dang and Haiphong-Halong-Mong Cai railway lines will be expedited, while procedures to initiate construction on the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Haiphong railway will be fast-tracked.
The ministry will finalize investment procedures to develop southern waterway corridors and logistics hubs, with construction anticipated to commence in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Long Thanh International Airport in the southern province of Dong Nai is slated for substantial completion.
The Ministry of Transport plans to disburse VND87 trillion from the State budget in 2025. To ensure efficient utilization, the ministry will implement comprehensive solutions to expedite public investment disbursement while maintaining strict accountability.
Last year, the ministry began work on 10 projects and completed eight, despite challenges related to land acquisition and material procurement.
Several key projects, including sections of the North-South Expressway between the coastal provinces of Quang Ngai and Khanh Hoa, are anticipated for completion ahead of schedule.
