HCMC – The HCMC Pasteur Institute confirmed today, January 12 that a 31-year-old Russian woman and her one-year-old daughter, who re-tested positive on January 10 after they had recovered from the disease, have tested negative.

The woman, along with her daughter, came to Vietnam to reunite with her husband, who works for the Vietnam-Russia oil and gas joint venture Vietsovpetro in Vung Tau City, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province.

They arrived at the Cam Ranh International Airport in Khanh Hoa Province on November 24, 2020, and were quarantined at a hotel in the province.

On November 26, they tested positive for Covid-19 and were taken to the Cam Lam District Medical Center for quarantine and treatment, becoming the 1,333rd and 1,334th Covid-19 patients in Vietnam. They recovered on December 25, according to the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province Center for Disease Control.

After the treatment, they were transported to a hotel in Nha Trang City for quarantine from December 25, 2020 to January 7, 2021. During this time, they tested negative for Covid-19 twice.

On January 7, the husband travelled from Vung Tau to Nha Trang to bring his wife and daughter to Vung Tau. They arrived at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCMC via Flight VN6203 at around 8 p.m. and then took a coach to Vung Tau.

The Vietsovpetro Medical Center sent their samples to the Thong Nhat Hospital in HCMC for Covid-19 tests on January 9 and 10 and the results indicated that the Russian woman and her daughter tested positive for Covid-19 again.

The medical center sent them to a quarantine center in Long Dien District and sent their samples to the HCMC Pasteur Institute for another test. The institute’s test results, which came out today, showed that they tested negative for Covid-19.

To ensure safety, the local authorities have disinfected the venues they had visited and identified people who had close contact with them.

The husband and two health workers at the Vietsovpetro Medical Center have been sent to a quarantine center, while 21 other people who had close contact with the patients are being quarantined at home.
