Vietjet sets new milestone as sole airline offering direct Hanoi-Hiroshima flights

Vietjet is delighted to launch the direct route linking Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi with the captivating city of Hiroshima in Japan. The new service marks the airline’s eighth route between the two countries and the only direct air link between Hiroshima and Hanoi, significantly reducing travel time while providing a seamless travel experience between the two destinations.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, the Governor of Hiroshima Prefecture, Mr. Yuzaki Hidehiko, said: “We are very pleased with the inauguration of the Hiroshima-Hanoi route, which was announced in the presence of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh during his visit to Hiroshima last May as the guest country for the G7 Hiroshima Summit. Hiroshima Prefecture has close ties with Vietnam, as many companies have advanced into the Vietnamese market and many Vietnamese people live in the prefecture. We are looking forward to the start of direct flights between Vietnam and our prefecture, fostering further exchanges in business, tourism, and various other fields.”

The President and Representative Director of Hiroshima International Airport, Mr. Yasuhiro Nakamura, congratulated Vietjet on the new route launch, saying: “Vietjet’s debut flight today marks the first new international service to be launched at Hiroshima Airport post-pandemic. We extend the appreciation for this milestone as it is the significant step in enhancing Hiroshima Airport’s international network. As travel demand rises, we are committed to collaborating with all stakeholders to increase the service frequency and look forward to Vietjet’s flight expansion to Hiroshima.”

Vietjet Vice President, Mr. Nguyen Duc Thinh, expressed the airline’s gratitude for the support from the Japanese authorities and local partners, saying: “Vietjet currently operates 116 flights weekly between major Vietnamese cities and Japan’s top destinations, including Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Nagoya and now Hiroshima. The airline is committed to further expanding the connectivity between Vietnam and Japan, providing more convenient, cost-effective, and time-saving travel options for citizens and tourists of both nations, and across the regions.”

The Hanoi-Hiroshima route has two weekly return flights on Thursdays and Sundays with around four hours and 30 minutes per leg.

To celebrate the new route, Vietjet offers budget-friendly tickets starting from just US$0/one way (exclusive of taxes and fee) at www.vietjetair.com and the Vietjet Air mobile app, applied to the new route and other international routes of Vietjet. The promotional tickets are up for grabs every Friday, with the travel time to December 31, 2024 (exclusive of holidays and peak seasons).
