HCMC – Party General Secretary To Lam said Vietnam values its traditional friendship with Russia and is ready to deepen bilateral ties during his meeting with Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin in Moscow on May 8.
The leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam called for enhancing the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership, underscoring the need to bolster political trust and deepen cooperation in defense and security.
He proposed the two nations strengthen cooperation in energy, oil and gas, expand into new energy sectors, enhance the effectiveness of economic, trade, and investment collaboration, and boost ties in traditional areas of strength.
In response, Prime Minister Mishustin affirmed that Russia considers Vietnam one of its top priority partners in the Asia-Pacific region. He said Lam’s visit would help deepen the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
The two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation between their ministries, sectors, localities, and businesses, remove barriers to trade and investment, and promote joint projects in energy, industry, high-tech agriculture, logistics, and digital transformation.
On the evening of May 8 (Vietnam time), Party General Secretary To Lam, his spouse, and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived in Moscow, beginning an official visit to Russia and attending the Victory Day parade.
