Vietnam deputy PM passes away

HCMC – Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh, a member of the Communist Party Central Committee, passed away due to his illness at the age of 61 yesterday evening, August 22.

According to the Central Committee on Health Care for Senior Governmental Officials, he died at his home in the northern city of Hai Phong.

Details regarding the schedule and locations for the respect-paying, memorial, and funeral ceremonies will be announced later.

Deputy PM Thanh, a native of Vinh Bao District, Haiphong City, was born on October 20, 1962. He assumed the role of Deputy Prime Minister in April 2021.

He was also a member of the Party Central Committee in the 12th and 13th tenures and a member of the 12th National Assembly.

He served as the director of the Hai Phong Cement Company, vice chairman of the Haiphong People’s Committee, then Secretary of the Haiphong Party Committee, and Chairman of the Haiphong People’s Council.
