HCMC – The Ministry of Planning and Investment has reaffirmed its commitment to green and sustainable development by announcing a plan to build the national green classification criteria.

Speaking at a conference held today, May 23, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc underscored the role of green growth for economic prosperity, environmental sustainability, and social equity.

She said the national green classification criteria being built will serve as a crucial legal framework to guide investment project selection, resource allocation, and access to preferential policies.

Ngoc highlighted the pivotal role of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards in measuring and evaluating sustainable development, particularly in the context of international integration.

Nguyen Dinh Tho, general director of the Institute of Strategy and Policy on Natural Resources and Environment, under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, noted that while ESG implementation is currently encouraged, it will gradually become mandatory.

The event also saw participation from various business representatives who shared experiences and discussed solutions to promote green and sustainable growth in Vietnam.
