HCMC – Citizens from 12 countries can enjoy a visa-free stay of up to 45 days under a new Government resolution on tourism promotion, which is effective from August 15, 2025 to August 14, 2028.

The list covers Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Switzerland.

Citizens of these countries will be granted a 45-day visa-free stay from the date of entry for tourism purposes, regardless of passport type, provided they meet Vietnam’s entry requirements.

In a related development, the Government has issued Decree No. 221 offering temporary visa exemptions for foreign nationals in special categories eligible for preferential treatment to support socio-economic development.

The decree outlines eligible groups for the exemption, covering foreign guests invited by Vietnam’s top leaders such as the Party General Secretary, State President, National Assembly Chair, Prime Minister, and other equivalent positions.

The policy also applies to scholars, experts, scientists, and university professors, as well as chief engineers and high-quality human resources in the digital technology industry.

It further covers investors, leaders of major corporations and large enterprises worldwide, and individuals active in culture, arts, sports, and tourism who have a positive influence on the public.
