HCMC – Vietnam and Qatar should strengthen cooperation in infrastructure, oil and gas, renewable energy, green technology, and digital transformation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said at a meeting with Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani yesterday, August 15.
The Vietnamese PM also proposed Qatar offer official development assistance (ODA) funding to infrastructure and agricultural projects in the Southeast Asian nation.
The two sides should team up to effectively implement a bilateral agreement on labor cooperation, Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper quoted him as saying.
He lauded the two sides’ signing of an agreement on visa waiver for holders of diplomatic and official passports during the Qatari top official’s visit to Vietnam.
PM Chinh suggested the two sides actively implement the signed deals and facilitate negotiations for cooperation in the fields of maritime, customs, security, culture and tourism.
Deputy PM Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani asserted that Qatar attaches importance to developing bilateral ties with Vietnam and considers Vietnam a gateway to the ASEAN market.
Vietnam remains an attractive destination among investors and tourists from Qatar and there is much room for the two countries to bolster cooperation in multiple fields, such as trade, energy and tourism, added the Qatari top official.
