HCMC – Vietnam shipped wood and wooden products worth US$4.6 billion to the U.S. in the first half of this year, rising 11.6% year-on-year, according to data from the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
In June alone, Vietnam’s exports of wood and wooden products to the U.S. amounted to US$778.3 million, up 9.4% versus the same period in 2024.
Data from the Import-Export Department at Vietnam Customs indicated that wooden furniture made up 85.7% of total wood exports to the U.S. Wooden-frame chairs topped the list with nearly US$1.2 billion, up 14.9% year-on-year, making it the fourth fastest-growing product group.
Trailing behind were living and dining room furniture with US$793.1 million in export value and bedroom furniture with US$664 million.
Aside from furniture, Vietnam also exported timber, panels and flooring, wooden doors, and handicraft items. Among these, only wooden doors recorded a slight 1% decrease, while the rest saw growth of between 5.1% and 54.2%.
Despite challenges related to trade policy shifts and supply chain relocation, wood exports to the U.S. remained robust in the first half of 2025, the Import-Export Department said. Still, the sector faces lingering risks, including potential trade remedies, stricter traceability requirements, and the threat of investigations.
