HCMC – The National Assembly (NA) yesterday, May 22, approved the Government’s nomination of Dang Quoc Khanh, secretary of the Ha Giang Party Committee, as minister of Natural Resources and Environment.

The ongoing fifth plenary session of the 15th NA passed a resolution on the approval with some 91.9% of votes in favor.

Khanh, 47, is the head of the NA deputies delegation of Ha Giang Province. He has become one of the two youngest members of the Government, in addition to Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi.

Khanh took office after his predecessor Tran Hong Ha had been relieved of the post on the same day. Ha was promoted to deputy prime minister for the 2021-2026 period in a Government’s nomination that received NA approval in January this year.

Legislators also elected Le Quang Manh, secretary of the Can Tho Party Committee, as member of the NA Standing Committee and chairman of its Finance-Budget Committee.

Manh, 49, has a doctor’s degree in economics. He replaced Nguyen Phu Cuong, who had been dismissed from the position of a NA member and the legislative body’s Finance-Budget Committee chairman.
