HCMC – Vietnam received some 1.4 million doses of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine donated by France on November 27 and 28, bringing the total vaccine doses offered by France to more than two million.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 400,000 doses were presented through the bilateral diplomatic channel and nearly one million doses via the COVAX Facility. The vaccine was a result of Vietnam’s vaccine diplomacy efforts and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit to France in November, the local media reported.

The assistance of the French Government and people to Vietnam amid the complicated developments of the pandemic is of vital significance. It is vivid evidence of the strategic partnership between the two countries and affirms their mutual cooperation and support in the fight against Covid-19.

Vietnam hoped France would continue supporting the country in the supply of Covid-19 vaccines and medical equipment and cooperate in the production and technology transfer of Covid-19 vaccines and antivirals. The two countries hoped to coordinate to work out solutions to bring socioeconomic activities back to normal.
