Vietnam Register’s Nguyen Vu Hai detained

HCMC – Nguyen Vu Hai, deputy general director of Vietnam Register (VR), has been detained by the HCMC police on allegations of abusing his position and power while on official duty.

The police have also searched Hai’s residence and workplace.

This action is part of an ongoing investigation into violations and irregularities discovered during the inspection of inland waterway ships at VR and its inspection departments.

In addition to Hai, the HCMC police have pressed the same charges against five other individuals at Vietnam Register. These individuals are identified as Bui Quoc Huy, Dau Ngoc Binh, Phan Huy Liem, Vu Van Son, and Tran Ky Hinh.

These individuals are accused of violating regulations on the evaluation and issuance of certificates for facilities responsible for the construction, repair, and improvement of inland waterway ships.

Previously, the HCMC police filed charges against nine individuals, bringing the total number of suspects involved in violations related to inland waterway ship inspections to 35 as of now.
