HCMC – The number of newly established businesses in September rose by 49.8% year-on-year, with registered capital and employment also increasing by 78.6% and 53.9%, respectively.
Data from the National Statistics Office showed 16,800 new businesses were founded last month, with total registered capital of VND165.7 trillion and 97,000 workers. Despite the strong year-on-year increases, the figures represented declines of 17.9% in the number of businesses, 49.2% in registered capital, and 9.3% in hiring compared to August 2025.
The average registered capital stood at VND9.9 billion per business, down 38.1% from August but up 19.2% year-on-year. In addition, 10,700 businesses resumed operations in September, down 13.6% month-on-month but up 65.7% against the same period in 2024.
Meanwhile, 4,564 companies registered to suspend operations temporarily, down 30.1% from the previous month but up 7.8% year-on-year. At the same time, 4,182 enterprises completed dissolution, increasing 9.1% from August and surging 160.6% year-on-year.
In the January-September period, Vietnam saw 145,000 new businesses with combined registered capital of VND1,420.2 trillion and 874,000 workers, up 18.9% in the number of businesses, 22.6% in capital, and 18.9% in labor compared to the same period in 2024. On average, 25,700 businesses were newly established or resumed operations each month, while 19,400 businesses exited the market.
