Vietnamese President to attend King Charles III’s Coronation

HCMC – State President Vo Van Thuong left Hanoi for the UK this morning, May 4, to attend the coronation of King Charles III, at the invitation of the Royal Family.

President Thuong was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, Ambassador to the UK Nguyen Hoang Long, Vice Chairwoman of the President Office Phan Thi Kim Oanh, and Assistant to the President Duong Quoc Hung.

The Vietnamese President’s visit to the UK coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

King Charles III’s coronation is scheduled to take place at Westminster Abbey in London on May 6.

Bilateral trade between Vietnam and the UK in 2022 reached US$6.83 billion, up 3.4% compared to 2021. Vietnam’s total export value to the UK in 2022 reached US$6.06 billion, up 5.2%.

As of November 2022, the UK was among Vietnam’s top 15 biggest investors with more than 500 projects capitalized at US$4.2 billion.
