Vietnam’s 46th Covid-19 death announced

HCMC – An 81-year-old man in the northern province of Bac Ninh died of Covid-19, taking the country’s Covid-19 death toll to 46 as of today, May 27, according to the subcommittee for treatment under the national steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control.

The deceased suffered from a rib and clavicle facture in a traffic accident four years ago and a liver abscess two years ago, news site Vietnamplus reported.

On May 5, he had a mild fever, cough and fatigue. He was later hospitalized for pneumonia.

He tested negative for Covid-19, so he was discharged from the hospital and quarantined at home.

On May 11, he had a higher fever and his cough worsened. On May 14, he suffered from shortness of breath and was taken to the medical center of Thuan Thanh District for Covid-19 testing. The result came back positive and he was transferred to the Bac Ninh General Hospital.

One day later, he was shifted to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi’s Dong Anh District and was diagnosed with septic shock and pneumonia caused by Covid-19.

However, he died of septic shock and pneumonia caused by Covid-19, respiratory failure and sepsis on May 26.
