Vietnam’s daily Covid case count decline extends

HCMC – The Ministry of Health this evening, May 8, reported 2,269 new daily Covid cases, with all but one of them domestically infected, dropping 1,077 from the day earlier.

Hanoi City, still the nation’s biggest Covid hotspot, saw its daily case count falling almost by half to 338. Nghe An followed with 140 cases, Tuyen Quang with 135, Phu Tho with 129, Quang Ninh with 120 and Yen Bai with 101. Other cities and provinces had 100 new cases or below each.

The total Covid recoveries have soared to over 9.32 million, including more than 2,000 patients who fully recovered today.

The ministry also reported one Covid death in Tay Ninh Province, sending the country’s coronavirus death toll to 43,056.

The National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology under the health ministry today decided to allocate over 2.3 million doses of the Moderna Covid vaccine donated by the Australian Government to 56 cities and provinces to vaccinate children under 12.

Until now, over 4.6 million doses of Moderna have been allocated nationwide for the inoculation of children in this age group.
